Kerala is fortunate to have gone to the annals of history to have the first Police Museum in India. It is an excellent initiative to conserve the architectural heritage of Kerala by adaptive reuse of a hundred year old inn, with four courtyards, which was used as a Police Station, has now become a center of Police History. The Museum exhibits the history of World Police, Indian Police and Kerala Police.
In order to pay homage to the thousands of policemen who laid down their lives and to pay the due respects to them, Kollam Police has created a Police Martyr's gallery, where the entire Martyr's have become immortal. This museum has a room dedicated to these Martyrs and also a column at the entrance to honour their service.
Interesting artifacts used by the Police including traditional and contemporary weapons, dressing material, vehicles, radio equipment etc are on display in the Museum.
The Museum displays the possibilities of advanced traffic intersections for the growing needs of traffic in Kollam. It goes a long way in educating the public about the increasing traffic problems, the importance of traffic discipline and inculcates traffic awareness
