DYSP Administration

Supervision of office work in District Police Office, Kollam, Emergency L&O duties and Penal duties entrusted by Superintendent of Police.  He also entrustd in enquiry of petitions, PRs against Officials and men.  Holding of meeting entrusted by the Superintendent of Police, visit of Police Stations and inspection of sections at District Police Office.  He is the personal assistance to the Superintendent of Police in all matters.

Crime Detachment

 

This is a special crime investigation unit under the District Superintendent of Police. This wing is headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police, the crime detachment investigate in to the sensational or special investigation entrusted by District Supdt. of Police. It also look in to the activities of Goondas and action taken against them. This unit also considered for verification of allegation raised against the investigation cases of local police. He is also the nodal officer for the women cell and Cyber cell functioning in the in the district Head quarters.

 

DCRB (District Crime Records Bureau)

This wing is headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police. His role is to collect the criminal data form the Police Stations and analyzes the fluctuation of crime and occurrence of the district. He is the evaluating person of the police officers of the district based on the crime and investigation aspect and also the nodal officer of the implementation of SC/ST PoA Act. The details regarding the KD/DC are maintained in this office and their whereabouts are being verified frequently. He is also entrusted for investigation of certain cases by the district police.

A well equipped computer cell is also functioning under this unit, it process the data regarding the crime and criminals from police stations and sent to SCRB in time.

Scientific investigation team comprising Finger print (single digit) Bureau, Photographic unit, Forensic science unit lead by a Scientific Assistant also working under this unit. They collect possible evidence from the scene of crime and moderate this to the investigation team for detecting the cases

Narcotic cell

This wing is headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police. Narcotic cell is an exclusive cell for detection, prevention, transportation and possession narcotic drugs and psychotropic substance in the district. He is also entrusted to laureate the public regarding the narcotic and psychotropic substances. Any information about drug trafficking can be directly to the Superintendent of Police or to the telephone No. 1090. Calls to this number are not charged.

Women Cell

The women cell is working under the direct supervision of the DySP Crime detachment. This cell includes one W CI, 2 WSI and WHC’s/ PC’s. They had to redress the petitions and complaints from the women belong to Kollam district. More over, the district women cell conducts counseling to redress the problems related to women. They had to collect the details regarding the domestic violence Act cases related to women. There is an advisory board included by the reputed women in the district to evaluate the functions of the women cell.

District Special Branch

District Special Branch is functioning under direct control of Superintendent of Police, Kollam. The main work of this unit is intelligence collection.

The Unit is functioning under Deputy Superintendent of Police. He is also the nodal officer of the District Passport Cell which is functioning as a sub-unit of district special branch. Each ASI/HCs are deployed in every police station from collecting information and forward the same to Dist.SB then there. All the information received from the HCs/ASIs are conveyed to the Superintendent of Police as well as Superior officers ADGP(Int)/DGP Kerala/ADGP South Zone, IGP Tvm Range as per the importance of the matters. Dy SP Dist.SB is also working as the Nodal officer of the Passport applications received from various passport offices. Besides the above work, enquiries of confidential matters entrusted by superior officers and enquiries on character and antecedents of the selected candidates of PSC/UPSC/and other State of Central services are being conducted by Dist.SB.
